Villa della Regina: Fiori di Garza, poetry and dance from 24 to 29 March 2018 Project by and with Laura Fusco Saturday, March 24 at 12: Photographic exhibition and presentation of the gauze flowers national premiering with Laura Fusco

Art photos projection by Laura Fusco.

Images, beyond the great artistic value and awesomeness, constitute a unique historical and documental interest. They portray statues and artifacts from the Villa prior to restoration, later vandalized and / or no longer existing. The value of the photos brought the City of Turin to host in 2015 a national premiering of the Exhibition in the Sala delle Colonne and to give her patronage.

The architect Italo Zanotti, co-creator of Music and Spaces, and the art critic Angelo Mistrangelo, in dialogue with the poet Laura Fusco, author of the shots, spoke at the event.

The firm artom & zanotti hosts EstOvest OFF 2017

Music, as we know, is creative spirit but also calculation and structure: similar, in this respect, to architecture. To this striking affinity EstOvest dedicates a wide space for reflection with the debate Around Architecture and Power (scheduled for November 30th) and with the second concert of the EstOvest Off cycle, hosted in the premises of the artom & zanotti Associated Architects studio in Turin.

Saturday 18 November at 6.30 pm the violinists Adrian Pinzaru and Eilis Cranitch will play in the extraordinary setting of a space usually closed to the public, where new design ideas and history coexist. The studio is in fact located in the Antonelli Residence in via Vanchiglia 9, the ambitious home that Alessandro Antonelli designed for himself in 1847, a few steps from his Mole, and where he lived until his death.

«Our studio - says the architect Italo Zanotti - has already shaped the link between architecture and music with the project the City and the Music of the former tobacco factory and former FIMIT of Turin. A large space dedicated to music in all its aspects, from record production to listening, but also to the creation of instruments». And to the construction of the instruments, another moment in which creativity and design practice merge, is dedicated to the presence of Bernard Neumann, one of the greatest luthiers in activity and curator of the famous “Cannone” by Paganini, who will introduce the evening and dialogue with the musicians.

The program includes the performance of some of the Duets for two violins by Luciano Berio (those dedicated to composers Mauricio Kager, Pierre Boulez, Bruno Maderna and Rodion Schedrin), Rocking Mirror Daybreak, 1983 composition of the Japanese Toru Takemitsu, a prelude by Alfred Schnittke inspired by Shostakovich and the suite Impressions d'enfance for solo violin by the Romanian Enescu. An unmissable event for all the curious who wish to combine the love for beauty with the knowledge of the most technical and "material" art backgrounds.

The idea of the video was was born of the need to make comprehensible to everyone - through a narration of the possible - a design hypothesis for the redevelopment of the former Tobacco manufactory in Turin. The theme was developed in the IV edition of the "Sound and Space" design workshop, an initiative organized by artom & zanotti associated architects in collaboration with prof. franco lattes of DIPRADI - Polytechnic University of Turin Faculty of Architecture 1. The design Workshops were introduced in 2006 within the event Music and Spaces - meetings between architecture and music, born in 2005 and now in its seventh edition (musicaespazi.it).

The generating idea of the workshop, developed in close collaboration with the University of Turin, owner of a concession on the area aimed at a future establishment of university activities, was to transform a vast disused industrial area, located in a strategic position inside the Regio Parco district, in a new innovative supralocal pole of musical and multimedia character connected to the university campus for sporting activities, expected in the near future.

The Projects elaborated within the workshop, displayed in a public session on April 14th and 15th, at the Ecomuseum of the Circumscription 6, had to deal with the problems related to the history of the settlement, its relations with the surrounding area, verifying the compatibility with the historical and architectural features of all the buildings that make up the former manufacture, bound by the DL 42/04; analyzing the constructive modalities and the susceptibility to transformation. Explanatory notes related to the organization of the Workshop.

The project Workshop involved university students of the Master's Degree courses of the Faculty of Architecture, as an integrative activity and an occasion for a quick but significant comparison with the operational realities of the project; freelance engineers and architects of less than 35 years of age, and public administration technicians and officials as an opportunity for training and updating.

The Workshop's activities took place at the premises located within the Tobacco Factory, made available by the University of Turin (student secretary area).

Period: April-December 2011.

Music and Spaces - VIII Edition

Playing the city - the pav park participated concert: a sound trail of experimentation and contamination between sound, music and architecture, curated by Carlo Italo Zanotti, Anna Ippolito and Marzio Zorio.

The type of experimentation will concern the theme of perception and participatory construction of the sound landscape of the city through collective creation.
The simple gesture of beating a musical instrument (drums, bass drums and any other kind of percussion) placed along a pre-established path generates a participated musical composition.
The audience, assisted by a group of artists, architects and musicians, working for some years on the themes of contamination between different but similar disciplines (from contemporary art, to the world of sounds, to music, architecture and interactions and contaminations between the various languages) will be accompanied within a sound path, predetermined in the temporal and spatial sequence but unpredictable in the subsequent participatory sound composition, characterized by the use, through the help of electronics, by sampling the set of sounds produced by unknowing visitors-musicians and the subsequent mixing with other pre-existing sound tracks to compose, at the end of the visit, the original score that will be performed in concert, with the help of other instruments played “live”.
